Ospreys

In May and June of this year, I was in Green Lake, Wisconsin for a golf outing and was tipped off by a local resident about Ospreys (fishing hawks) nesting atop a lighting fixture at the local high school baseball diamond.  I wandered over there one early evening and easily spotted the nest, but a baseball game was being played, all overhead lights were on and the teams went about their business.  I never saw the Ospreys.

The next day, I returned with photo gear and as I approached the nest, the one sitting Osprey began her alarm calls.


No answer from her mate, who was probably snacking at the local sushi diner, so she took flight and tried to scare me away.



 

 




 
Her mate soon returned with a piece of fish in its talons and joined in the fray:
